The Betriber&Emwelt platform, in collaboration with the Environment Agency (AEV) and Ecotrel, is organising a webinar on the implementation of the extended producer responsibility scheme specific to electrical and electronic equipment (EEE).

The placing of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE)on the market is subject to an extended producer responsibility system, which organizes the collection and recycling—or reuse—of waste EEE. When companies place EEE on the market, they must join this system, which entails legal obligations they must comply with.

The law of the 9th of June 2022 on waste of electrical and electronic equipment sets the legal framework for businesses which place such products on the market,and who have to comply to it. For electrical and electronic equipment considered as household EEEs, companies must comply by joining the Producer Responsibility Organisation Ecotrel asbl ; for others, they may choose between individual approval or joining this approved organization.

This webinar is aimed at producers of EEE of the following categories :

  • Category 1: Temperature exchange equipment
  • Category 2: Screens, monitors, and equipment containing screens having a surface greater then 100 cm2
  • Category 3: Lamps
  • Category 4: Large equipment
  • Category 5: Small equipment
  • Category 6: Small IT and telecommunication equipment

The objectives of this webinar are to :

  • explain and present the EPR scheme for EEE ;
  • clarify who is defined as a producer under this EPR scheme ;
  • make the distinction betwenn the notion of electrical and electronic equipment considered as household EEEs versus electrical and electronic equipment considered as non household EEEs;
  • provide information on the related legal obligations ;
  • present the compliance options available to EEE producers.
